Application Reviewer

United Way of Greater St. Louis is pleased to offer volunteer opportunities for community members interested in helping select local nonprofits to receive United Way funding and support. Currently, we are seeking volunteers to review and score local nonprofit applications to help determine which applicants will move to the next phase of consideration.

Subcommittee Member

United Way is also seeking individuals to serve on our Regional Investment Committee (RIC) subcommittees.  Each of the three subcommittees supports United Way’s philosophy toward building a stronger community and ensure donor investments are distributed in a responsible manner.  The three subcommittees are as follows:

  • Safety Net Subcommittee:  Provides oversight to the Safety Net funding process. Safety Net is our largest funding pool providing services across our 16-county service area.  These nonprofit organizations address needs identified in support of our five impact pillars.
  • Systems Change Subcommittee:  Provides oversight to the Systems Change funding process. We use a systems change approach where we seek to understand and raise awareness of the most needed services and resources, and mobilize the community to address identified needs on three levels; individual, agency, and community.
  • Targeted Subcommittee:  Provides oversight to the Targeted funding process. As emergent, emergency or crisis support is needed in our community; United Way supports programs and organizations to help meet those needs through targeted fundraising and one-time grantmaking efforts.

More in-depth information will be provided at the upcoming orientation scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. and Thursday, August 15, 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
